for those of you that don’t know, my car has a name and her name is lola. lola has been good to me since ive had her back in 2001, but now she’s falling apart. she’s lasted longer than most other friends that i know that had a jetta 1.8T engine, but she’s had her fair share of problems. i’ve only been stuck a few times where i needed to call someone to help, but there’s been a low level of uncertainty with her, such as the way she shakes when i start her up or how loud she sounds at 55mph (no more, no less).
and it’s not like i haven’t been maintaining her. i’ve been getting her oil changed, got her new shoes when she needed it.. etc. in fact i dumped about 1k into fixing random ass parts in her earlier this year, and then also shortly before that i pumped $800 into her for them to poke around.
but she’s still shaky. today she wouldn’t start even though the battery was good (my radio/lights/clock still worked, but it wouldn’t turn on). i had to wait in the parking lot of 24H fitness for my bro to come rescue me, but even he didn’t have jumper cables. luckily these 2 guys in the parking lot saw us in distress and let us borrow their jumper cables. but, WTF! i asked henry if he ahd this problem with his civic back in the day and he said no.
now i’m at a crossroad… i love lola and she’s been good to me, but i think it’s time to get a new car. not NEW per se..i would be happy with a used car that doesnt’ break down/shake that could get me from point a to point b. ideally, i would get a used cheap car in manual and drive that from now until 2012 (when i start making money and have some actually saved up) to buy the car of my dreams (currently: infiniti g37s coupe is a good option). but i doubt my dad will shell out 8-10k for a used car for 2 years. i guess i’m just going to have to use this car for 2 more years, buy the used car in 2011, and then buy a new car in 2013. SIGH!!!!! fucking vw.
