got all four wisdom teeth removed earlier today around 12:30 PM.
my oral surgeon only really gave me four options: a) local anesthesia only, b) take an anti-anxiety pill by mouth before procedure + local anesthesia c) take an anti-anxiety pill by mouth before procedure + nitrous oxide + local anesthesia, or d) IV sedative + local anesthesia.
I chose the IV route of course. At first I was disappointed that she didn’t offer to put me under because I get freaked out when things are around my face. She ensured me that the IV sedative would be good enough though and I’m glad after all that I chose that option. There’s something about getting a drug intravenously – that sudden rush through your body. Once the nurse injected the Versed IV, I felt it rush from my chest to the extremities of my body to my eyes and mouth. It was time to relax and enjoy it.
I can tell how addicted drug abusers get on drugs when they use them IV. Towards the end of my surgery I was secretly yearning for more but I knew better than that. I’m in this professional world to distribute drugs and (hopefully) regulate abusers on drugs like these.
All in all, the procedure took about 45-50 minutes and was successful. I was talking and eating rice porridge by 5PM earlier today. I’m not very swollen either, which is good considering she sliced open 2 gums, and sawed one tooth in half.
